Eligibility: The project is open worldwide to all artists/photographers aged 18 years and older.

Image Criteria

Labyrinth Gallery is inviting visual artists to submit ‘one single image’ that evokes the spirit of our natural world revealing a personal experience authentic to the subject of Planet Recovery. 

        Criteria for image content.

Images should be based on representing the world’s environmental crisis.  They can be wildlife at risk, climate crisis in the environment or the artists interpretation of climate crisis in the environment.

  • Wildlife including any non-domestic animal such as birds, mammals, reptiles, amphibians, fish, crustaceans and insects will be accepted
  • Images of the impact of industries on the natural environment and wildlife habitat will be accepted.
  • Images of landscape, seascape and natural habitat striking the message of the climate emergency will be accepted.  
  • Images of wildlife and insect species listed as ‘endangered’ will be accepted. 

  • Images depicting domestic animals or purely botanical subjects will be refused. 
  • Images depicting wildlife removed from its environment, without place, setting or context to the theme will be refused.

The work you submit must be in keeping with the theme; that is highlighting the plight or the recovery of our planet. 

Labyrinth Gallery retains the right to refuse any submissions that are deemed to be not in keeping with this theme. 

To submit work for the exhibition please fill in the form below and send a low resolution jpeg/jpg or png file of the art work you wish to be considered for inclusion in the exhibition. The file size needs to be less than 5mb.

Any artwork or photograph you submit for inclusion must be your own work and you must be the owner of the copyright for the artwork/image.

Please ensure you include your email address in your submission as well as a link to your portfolio, this can be a web page, facebook, instagram or any other site that contains examples of your works.

Also make sure you include a description that explains why you feel this image resonates with Planet Recovery.

Once we have received your file we will be in touch with you to confirm receipt.

Submissions must reach us by no later than the 1st December 2021. Once we have reviewed all submissions we will contact you to confirm if your image will be included in the exhibition. If your image is short listed we will request a brief description of the image to include in the exhibition.

There will be a People’s Choice vote running for the duration of the exhibition. The artist whose image receives the most votes will be offered a solo exhibition within the Labyrinth Gallery for a period of 2 months free of charge. 

Voting is only available through the gallery on the description card “Vote” button.

  • Acceptable media: Images may be painting, drawing, mosaic or photographic and original prints (if prints, please detail edition and how many are available).  
  • Submission fee: waived 
  • Only one work to be submitted
  • File sizes….should not be larger than 2400 megapixels along the longest dimensions

  • Closing Date: 1 December 2021 . The online entry page will be disabled at 23h00 GMT.

Selection

  • The Selection Committee is formed of Lynn Pearce and Sue Earnshaw and TBC. 
  • Please note that the selectors’ decisions are final and we are unable to offer feedback.

Terms & Conditions

  • The selected images will be included on the Planet Recovery Exhibition. Exhibitors will also receive recognition on the Organiser’s online gallery display, newsletter and on all their social media channels via Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and Blog.
  • Media/Equipment: Photographic entries shot on either film or digital cameras are eligible. Image metadata will be checked to ensure compliance with the entry criteria.
  • Image eligibility: All images are eligible. Black & white images and panoramic images are accepted.
  • Age of images: There is no limit but submitted images must be of high enough quality for printing purposes. Images with watermarks and copyright symbols will not be accepted
  • Image copyright: The Entrant must be the sole author and owner of the copyright of all images entered. It is the legal responsibility of the Entrant, and not the Organisers, to ensure that they comply with these ownership and copyright requirements, and own the rights to reproduction of their images. Entries that do not fulfil these criteria will be deemed ineligible and disqualified. Where this is discovered after the exhibition space has been awarded, the image will be removed from the exhibition.
  • Entrants agree to fully indemnify the Organisers and its sponsors and employees (if applicable) in respect of all royalties, fees and any other monies owing to any person by reason of the Entrant breaching any of the foregoing.
  • Reproduction rights & copyright: The Organisers do not make any claim whatsoever on the copyright of the Entrant’s images. The copyright will, at all times, be respected by the Organisers and retained by the Entrant.
  • Where an image or images are reproduced by the Organisers, the Entrant will be credited.
  • The Organisers and sponsors reserve the right to free reproduction and exhibition of entered images in all media, but only in connection with this competition.
  • Online entry: Specifications for images for upload appear in the online entry page and must be adhered to. Images must be named entrants name_title
  • Transparencies & negatives: These are not accepted.
  • Judging: The judges for the Peoples Choice vote will be announced in 2022
  • Prizes: The Organisers reserve the right to change the prizes to a comparable alternative due to unforeseen circumstances and any changes will be posted on the competition website. Prizes are not transferable.
  • Quality of entries: If the quality of entries falls below the required standard, the Organisers reserve the right not to select any of the images for the exhibition.
  • Exhibitors: A full list of short-listed entries will be published on the Organiser’s website. All successful exhibitors must agree to their success being publicised by the Organisers and partners.
  • Exhibitors’ publicity: All exhibitors will agree to take part in publicity about the exhibition.
  • Exhibitions rights: All rights to the Organiser’s exhibitions and the contents of this website (not to Entrants’ images) are copyrighted and owned by the Organisers.
  • Terms and Conditions: The information given in these terms & conditions is correct, but the Organisers reserve the right to change any of them without prior notice. The revised rules will be posted in this section of the website, and it is the Entrant’s responsibility to review this section. By signing the entry form, or completing online entry, Entrants will confirm that they have read and agreed to be bound by the terms & conditions of the competition. Any breach of these terms & conditions by an Entrant will void their entry. If a breach has occurred, but is discovered after the award of a place in the exhibition, then the Organisers may rescind the offer of an exhibition place.
  • The Organisers reserve the right to cancel or amend the Terms and Conditions.
  • The Organisers will assume that the Entrant has obtained the correct model release form (where applicable)
  • By submitting an entry for the exhibition the Entrant is deemed to have read, understand and agree to the Guidelines/Terms & Conditions.
  • The Organisers are not responsible for any failure to perform its obligations as part of this exhibition, if it is prevented or delayed in performing those obligations by an event of force majeure.
  • Governing Law: The rules and the relationship between the Organisers and its Entrants shall be governed by English law. Any dispute may be decided by the English courts or those of any other part of the United Kingdom.
